Warren L. Dranit  

Warren's practice encompasses the protection and licensing of intellectual property assets including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets. Drawing on his background as a software engineer, he also advises clients on technology issues including software, computers, the internet, electronic commerce and electronic communications. He also has an active civil litigation practice in the areas of intellectual property and business disputes.

For many years, Warren has been one of the North Bay's leaders in intellectual property and technology law. He is currently Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee for the California State Bar's Intellectual Property Section. In 1997, he founded the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Section for the Sonoma County Bar Association and currently serves as the Section Chair. In the technology sector, he has served on the Executive Committee for the North Bay Technology Round Table, as Chair of the Santa Rosa and Petaluma Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for SofTECH, and co-chair of the Sonoma County Connectivity Council, which was instrumental in facilitating several important technology projects.

Warren's other professional activities include the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce, where he is a member of its Government Affairs and Economic Development committee and a member of the Advisory Council for the Petaluma Arts Council.

Warren has presented on intellectual property issues at a number of venues ranging from conferences to local colleges. He has also been active in planning a broad range of intellectual property conferences including the State Bar's IP and the Internet Conference and the Copyright Office Comes to California Conference.

Warren splits his time between the firm's main office in Santa Rosa and its satellite office in Petaluma.

Warren graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1992 and served as an extern for the Honorable Armand Arabian of the California Supreme Court. He has a technology background, including Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Mathematics / Computer Science (Highest Honors; Phi Beta Kappa), and seven years experience developing technology software in the aerospace industry. He is admitted to practice in California, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
